This breathtaking silver gelatin photograph of Marilyn Monroe in a seductive pose by Elliott Erwitt measures 20 x 24 inches (50.8 x 61 cm) and is an original vintage print developed in 1956. The print is personally signed in the lower right by the artist and is in very good condition. It is signed, inscribed and dated in pencil verso: 'Elliott Erwitt / New York City / 1956'. 

Elliott Erwitt (1928-) was born in France to Russian immigrant parents. His family immigrated to the United States in 1939. Having built undeniable credentials as a remarkable professional photographer, Erwitt was invited to become a member of the prestige agency, Magnum, by its founder, Robert Capa in 1953. He would eventually serve as Magnum President for three consecutive terms beginning in 1968. He is best known for his black & white candid shots of the absurd in everyday life. Famously, his work has been exhibited in Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, to name but a few...
